McGill Engineers
in Action

Student-led engineering teams designing and building footbridges in isolated rural communities across Eswatini and Bolivia, connecting people to education, healthcare, and economic opportunity.

people helped and connected through our projects

Rural isolation due to geographical barriers keeps communities from accessing clean water, education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Together, we're changing that - one bridge at a time.

About Us

Engineering students united by a vision: a world free from rural isolation

Our Mission

McGill Engineers in Action addresses rural isolation in developing nations. We design and build safe, suspended footbridges that provide year-round access to essential resources, transforming lives by connecting communities to clean water, education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

Our Mission

How We Work

Our chapter is divided into four teams: fundraising secures project funds, sponsorship builds partnerships, our design team develops bridge plans with professional engineers, and media promotes our impact. Each year, we select a travel team of volunteers who spend weeks on-site building alongside local communities.

How We Work

Our Global Network

We're part of Engineers in Action, an international nonprofit with 40+ university chapters worldwide. Since 2006, EIA has built 110+ suspended footbridges serving over 150,000 people. Founded in 2018, MEIA is the first Quebec chapter, and we've completed 7 projects in Eswatini and Bolivia.

Our Global Network

Our Team

We are passionate students from engineering and other disciplines, united by one vision: a world free from rural isolation. Guided by professional mentors, we turn classroom knowledge into real impact and grow as future global leaders. Our chapter includes seven teams: Design, Construction and Safety, Cultural Relations, Finance, Fundraising, Media and Marketing and Sponsorship.
